THE ELIT-IN PROJECT MEETS PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS, PRIVATE ENTERPRISES AND ELITE ATHLETES

The ELIT-in project, coordinated by the Andalusian Swimming Federation (FAN) and framed within the European Erasmus + program, which has been developing since early 2018 together with the Sevilla FC Foundation, the University of the Balearic Islands and 9 other European entities, has as main objective the recognition and valorisation of the skills and qualities of elite athletes with a view to their incorporation into the labour market.

Under this approach, an experimental methodology (Focus Group)  met last week important professional profiles from Public Administrations (Junta de Andalucía, Fundación Andalucía Olímpica, Andalucía Emprende), Sports Organizations (Confederación Andaluza de Federaciones Deportivas, Asociación de Actividades Acuáticas de Mairena del Aljarafe), Private Entities (La Caixa, Viajes Triana, Caixa Bank, Centros Deportivos Viding, La Caseta), DAN-DAR Trainers and Elite Athletes (Beatriz Manchón, Muriel Bujalance, Carlos Marchena, Luis Astolfi).

The main objective of this activity was to exchange visions and needs that can be demanded from one position or another related to the labour market, as well as to reflect on the possibilities and potentialities that the use of those non-academic skills that elite athletes develop during their sporting career could have to address any professional challenge in a work environment.

The venue chosen for the event was the awesome Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium of Seville Football Club, a club that welcomed all the guests in a very warm and friendly way. All attendees showed great interest in the ELIT-in project and offered to collaborate and participate in future activities that will surely be launched.

The results of the meeting will be included in the research phase of the ELIT-in project together with the conclusions generated from the other two project activities carried out in each of the countries of the partners participating in the project: surveys over a hundred elite athletes and the compilation of more 25 cases of Best Practices (entities, programs and projects that share the same mission as ELIT-in).

It concludes this first phase of diagnosis, which will give way to a next stage in which the Methodological Guide will be designed and the pilot experience that should be implemented in the middle of next year.

You cannot miss the video which our partner Seville FC kindly has prepared about the event.
